MOUNTAIN BIKE HILL

While out exploring the area, I came across quite an impressive mountain bike playground. I continued to the top of the trail where I discovered not only a great teeter totter to start the mountain bike course, but an awesome 270° view of the area. The view starts with northern views up the coast panning around to spectacular views of the cascades including Mt. Hood and Mt. Jefferson.
I started at the trailhead off of forest road 55 in the Cape Perpetua Natural Area which is located in the Siuslaw National Forest. Dogs are permitted on this trail, but are required to be leashed, a good idea since it is a mountain bike trail as well. The trailhead is located at N44° 16.93’ W124° 03.10’. A forest pass is not required at this time for this trailhead. Continue up this trail, which mountain bikes are allowed, until you reach the Cummins Creek Trail, a hiker’s only trail, and then head up from there. Pay attention of the trail ahead as there are very complex mountain bike features up there, meaning there could be mountain bikers riding down. It was pretty overgrown when I placed the cache, so looks like it hasn't been ridden recently. The forest was a typical coastal type, lush and beautiful. This section up appears not to have been logged adding to much of its beauty.
The cache is a cammo'd water bottle hid using some of the natural material found at the clear cut summit.
Enjoy the views.
