Though not far from a small town and not more than a few miles to a road in any direction, this mountain can seem like wilderness until you come across a tree stand or find a tree obviously felled by chainsaw. The way is very steep in places and you may encounter a cliff - you can go around the end, if you like wading through raspberries and other spiny plants growing above head height - there are other ways to get to the top of the cliff, but I will leave that to your judgement. The top of the ridge is a fine place to catch your breath and enjoy some scenery. In spring and fall, you can catch a glimpse of the highway below, but in summer the leaves are far too thick for such.
re: the raspberries - if you get there when they are ripe, help yourself - enjoy - that's what I do.
The cache, a small plastic lock-top container is in a relatively obvious hiding place - as well as the log, it contains a few modest swag items - I figure if you really want nice swag, you can get it without leaving your seat at the computer - it's all about the game, right?
One thing - if you are walking through thick, can't-see-ahead brush, please move slowly and always make sure you have a good place to put your foot - there are some precipitous drops around here.
